Welcome to Blythe, the "City of Outdoors" located just minutes from the beautiful Colorado River. We're a small town (population 13,000) with a big heart. You will make lasting friendships and develop a love for our Palo Verde Valley, the desert, mountains and river which surrounds it. The Valley offers you a safe place to raise a family, with clean air and ideal temperatures all year round. Blythe has no smog, low humidity and the perfect climate for those bothered by arthritis or allergies. Blythe is within 200 miles of everywhere: Los Angeles, Palm Springs, Phoenix, Yuma, and San Diego. You may notice construction within the valley and up on the mesa to the northwest. We have a power plant going in west of town, which should lower our electrical costs in the near future. Our new Community College campus is under construction up on the mesa and housing construction is planned north of town, by the gold course, and along the Colorado River on the California and Arizona sides. We have a new 109-space mobile home park at the eastern edge of town, and additional homes being added to a development at the western edge of the city. Our schools have been undergoing renovation and this winter a multi-million dollar beautification project will begin in downtown Blythe. Stop by the Chamber to see the "morph" from "now to the future". Our Chamber Office has many brochures about activities that can be found in the area, including rock hounding, mines, the local Intaglios, our local Museum, nearby wildlife preserves, bird watching, and much, much more. Of course we have a top notch hospital in Palo Verde Hospital, numerous physicians; eye care, chiropractic and dental, to name a few. We also have a VA Doctor to care for veterans here, which eliminates the drive to the VA Hospital in Loma Linda. We have something for everyone, from our Library, Community Center, Recreation Center, to local service organization such as Rotary, Soroptimists, Lions, VFW, Elks, Art Association, Scout Troops and 4-H Clubs. Blythe offers you Street Fairs, Country Fairs, a music festival, Christmas Parade, fireworks, auto racing at I-10 Speedway, sports activities including archery, rod and gun clubs, cultural activities, a new cinema, great restaurants, parks, and let us not forget about the Colorado River, where you can swim, tube float, ski, boat, canoe or just wade, when it's hot!
