Important Announcement

The Lucas Oil Modified scheduled race location for September 19th has been changed to the Irwindale Event Center, @ Irwindale Speedway on September 19th.

The Lucas Oil i10 Speedway will wrap up their 2013-2014 Winter Blast Racing Season, presented by Next Era Energy Resources, this Saturday night, April 19th . The quarter mile paved oval is located at the Colorado River Fairgrounds in Blythe-California.

True to a long standing tradition, the speedway will be concluding another racing season with a huge show. Saturday night's action begins with the local Street Stock and NAPA Factory Stock divisions. Each division will be crowning a season champion following the conclusion of their main events.

Next, the big guns will roll out onto the speedway. The thunder making, ground shaking, Lucas Oil Modified Racing Series, presented by LoanMart, will be treating the fans to a 75 lap feature. It's suggested that fans arrive a little early to get a good seat. This regional touring series packs the grandstands each and every time they arrive in Blythe for a race.

There has been somewhat of a surprise turn of events regarding the Street Stock championship profile. In the late stages of the Winter Blast season, former track champion Chris Vindhurst has emerged as the new points leader. Vindhurst has been on fire as of late. In his last four events at the speedway he has two wins and two second place finishes.

However, do not make the mistake of overlooking the presence of Clint Almquist. He has three feature wins this season, including winning the last two consecutive races, and is only eight points away from the leader. Previous feature winner, and reigning division champion, Kirk Almquist is ranked third in the standings, 18 points from the top.

This season's NAPA Factory Stock title run has been all about former series champion John Lowrence. In eight previous starts this season, Lowrence was absent for two of them. But the good news is: he won the other six races he did attend.

Lowrence will start the final race of the season with a 24 point advantage over Cody Rasmussen. However, the real battle here may be who will finish third in the final points. Chad Winkler and Steve Moore, ranked third and fourth respectively, are only separated by four points going into Saturday night.

The Lucas Oil Modified Racing Series, presented by LoanMart, is enjoying a 2014 season with a very healthy car count that averages between 30 and 40 teams. That's means there will be a B main, or last chance, race that is often as exciting as the A main event.

The series will be presenting the E3 Spark Plugs 75 Laps To Victory, presented by General Tire, Saturday night. That race will be a full 75 green flag laps, the series does not count yellow caution flag laps.

Reigning series champion Chris Gerchman appears to have picked up where he left off last season. The Lake Havasu City-Arizona driver is on top of the current standings after winning the first two races of the new season. However, he only holds a slim six point lead over Escondito-California's Austin Barnes, the 2012 series champion. We've seen these two drivers battle each other hard In the past and Blythe racing fans can expect to see more of the same on Saturday night.

The Lucas Oil i10 Speedway actually begins on Friday night with a test and tune session, open to all divisions, from 6 to 9 pm . The main grandstand will be open, free of charge, to spectators during the test session.

On Saturday , Next Era Energy race night, the spectator gates will open at 5pm with racing at 7pm . General admission tickets for Saturday night are $10 and $8 for seniors, military personnel and the handicapped. Teen tickets, age 13 to 17, are $5. Palo Verde High School students can receive a one dollar discount by presenting their ASB cards at the ticket gate.
